Spanish market representation for Turkish manufacturers

Your factory in Türkiye.
Your representative in Spain.

A representative on the ground in Spain who finds the buyer, defends your offer at the table and still answers the phone after the order.

One person in Spain who looks for buyers in your name, defends your offer, brings buyers to your factory and still answers the phone after the order is placed. A customer won in Spain is a door into the European Union's single market of 27 member states.

Where you are starting from

Which one is your situation?

I want a representative in Spain

Your product is ready and you need someone on the ground to find the buyer and run the relationship for you.

Commercial representation

I want to enter Spain but do not know where to start

The market gets mapped first: who buys, through which channel, which documents they ask for, where the price sits.

I want to reach the European Union market

Spain is the door, the Union is the market. What the Customs Union, the A.TR and single market rules mean for you.

Spain and the European Union

Scope

The manufacturer's presence on the ground in Spain

A resident counterpart who represents the manufacturer in Spain, finds buyers, runs the negotiations and follows the sale through. The goods remain yours, no stock is held, and no obligation to incorporate in Spain arises. When the business grows into needing a local entity, the incorporation is handled with specialist partners.

Why Spain

Spain is not the largest market. It is the door that gives way first.

The first question when you open up to the European Union is which country to start from. Spain's advantage is this: the buying decision is not scattered, it sits with a handful of distributors, purchasing groups and chains. Find the right door and the person who decides is sitting across from you. And what goes through that door reaches the whole Union without further approval.

Few doors, and the decision makers have names

In automotive spare parts most of the independent channel sits inside a handful of purchasing groups. In building materials the number of distributors is high, but the purchasing groups still decide. Few doors with names attached is a structure that one person working the field can genuinely cover.

Your buyer is Spanish, the market is not

61.8 percent of Spain's 2025 goods exports went to the European Union. The distributor you win is not a firm that sells only at home, it is a firm that sells into the Union. Once you hold a Spanish reference on a product line, that reference gets asked about in Portugal, France and Italy.

The Mediterranean route

Goods travel from Izmir and Mersin to Valencia and Barcelona across the Mediterranean. The route is shorter than the northern European one, which makes small trial consignments workable. Sailing frequency and transit days are checked separately for each product and each line.

A price sensitive market

Spanish buyers are more price sensitive than northern European ones, which is exactly where the Turkish manufacturer is strongest. The other side of that coin belongs in the same paragraph: the competition arrives from China and eastern Europe, not only from local producers.

The 61.8 percent figure comes from the monthly foreign trade report of the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise, December 2025 issue. The assessments of channel structure and price sensitivity are field observation, not statistics.

Spain and the European Union

A buyer won in Spain carries you into the Union market

The Customs Union has been in force since 31 December 1995 and removes customs duty on industrial goods. A buyer won in Spain is a buyer who can carry your product into the other twenty six member states of the European Union as well.

Single market

The same product in twenty seven member states, with no further approval.

The Customs Union has been in force since 31 December 1995 and covers industrial goods. Agriculture, fisheries, services and public procurement sit outside it, and coal and steel products are not covered by the A.TR, which follows a separate regime. Products within scope must also have a responsible operator established in the Union, and that obligation belongs to the manufacturer.

Sectors

Two sectors as examples, the method is the same in all of them

Brake discs and filter shelving in a spare parts warehouse

Automotive supply industry

Spare parts and aftermarket

Motor vehicles and parts are Turkey's largest export line to Spain. The buyer side is consolidated and named, and the way in runs through independent distributors and parts chains.

Palletised cladding and joinery in a building materials warehouse

Building and construction materials

Facades, joinery, plumbing, cladding

A wide and fragmented market with more than eight thousand distributors. Strong regional purchasing groups, and buyer relationships that take time to build and then hold.

If your sector is neither of these two

The method follows the channel, not the product group. Any industrial good sold in Spain through a distributor, a purchasing group or a project customer runs through the same process. Among the lines Turkey sells to Spain, these are the main groups that fit that description:

Machinery and equipment1.03 billion dollars
Electrical materials and equipment591 million dollars
Plastic products534 million dollars
Metal processing products281 million dollars
Rubber products169 million dollars
Furniture, lighting and prefabricated units87 million dollars

The values in this table come from Spain's record of imports from Turkey, 2025. This is a different series from the TÜİK export series higher up the page. The two series are never added together and never substituted for one another.

Frequently asked

The questions that start with "could this be done cheaper"

If I add Spanish-language pages to my website, do I count as present in Spain?
No, and this is not only a question of perception. Article 4 of Spanish Law 34/2002 LSSI applies the Law's obligations to providers established outside the Union that specifically direct their service to Spain. Article 10 requires the site to make accessible the name, the address in Spain, the email address, the commercial registry entry and the tax identification number, with penalties for serious infringements ranging from 30,001 to 150,000 euro. Article 27 of the General Data Protection Regulation sits on top of that: a controller not established in the Union that offers services to persons in the Union must designate a representative in the Union in writing. A dot es domain is open to you, with no requirement to be established in Spain. A dot eu domain is not, because establishment in the Union is required there. Spanish-language pages are a necessary step. On their own they do not create a local presence.
Can I reach Spanish buyers by sending bulk email?
You will reach them. You will not get replies, for two separate reasons. The first is commercial. Dozens of similar offers land in a purchasing manager's inbox every week, and on a first approach from an unfamiliar country the question is never the product, it is continuity: will the delivery hold, will there be a second order, who do I call when something goes wrong. The second is legal. Sending unsolicited commercial electronic communications in Spain is governed by Article 21 of Law 34/2002 LSSI, and the use of personal data falls under the General Data Protection Regulation. Buying a list and mailing it neither works nor is safe. What works is a named target list, telephone contact in Spanish, and the same person on the line at the fourth call.
Would attending a trade fair not be enough?
A fair is where you meet people, not where you sell. You collect business cards for three days and the real work starts the day it closes. The buyer looks at the sample, asks a technical question, requests a price, then goes quiet. The order comes out of the months that follow that silence, not out of the fair. Going is the right call. Going with nobody to follow up afterwards is an expensive introduction.
I know someone in Spain, could they not handle it?
They can, but it matters what they handle. A contact opens the door and that is genuinely valuable. After that the work becomes this: knowing which line a purchasing group is short on, preparing the requested documents in full, tracking where the sample evaluation stands, and telling you plainly why a sale did not happen. That is weekly work and goodwill does not carry it. Having a contact is an advantage, but an introduction and follow through are not the same thing.
If I find a distributor, do I still need a representative?
They are not the same job. A distributor buys the goods and sells them to its own customers; its priority is its own catalogue and your product is one line in it. A representative stands on your side: finds the right distributor, negotiates the terms, and tells you why the sales are not coming when they are not. The usual order is the representative first, the right distributor second.
Could I not just handle the Spanish with AI?
For written work it genuinely does the job: the first approach email, the quotation, the technical correspondence. Where it stops is the moment the phone is answered. When the buyer says the price is high, when the sample is late, when they tell you they are happy with their current supplier, that conversation has to be carried right then. Buying decisions change in those conversations, not in writing.
